Our website, nigermigrationresponse.org, was originally a website developed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN organization, to provide information on migration through Niger from sub-Saharan Africa. Migrants from these countries have traditionally used this route to move to Europe. However, the civil unrest in Syria and Europe’s acceptance of the resulting refugees provided an impetus to migration.
Movement through Niger has now died down, and the IOM closed its website. We are not associated with IOM. But, we believe it is important to maintain a historical record, particularly as it relates to migration. This website will be maintain that record, and provide additional information on migration and immigration.
While we reconstruct the historical record and provide new resources, you can get in touch.
