The issue of violent extremism and youth radicalization in Niger is of national, regional and international importance, and government actors as well as civil society and international organizations have mobilized to address this issue.
A national conference on violent extremism and youth in Niger took place today (4/10/2017) in Niamey. Organized by IOM with support from the Government of the United States, the event gathered more than 150 participants who shared knowledge and experiences gathered by governmental and civil society actors on this issue in order to develop a pool of best practices and lessons learnt, and build the country’s capacity to counter violent extremism (CVE). The event had a strong regional focus, based on IOM expertise on CVE activities in Agadez, Diffa, Tillabéri and Zinder.
