Last week, IOM Niger celebrated brave migrant women who have crossed borders, looking for better opportunities for themselves and their families. To recognize their individual careers and create spaces to share experiences, we organized activities across Niger.
In Arlit, we organized a mini football tournament where women played a central role, while in our Niamey and Agadez transit centers we organized workshops on the art of batik, in which more than 50 women participated.
"I really liked this special day. We spent an afternoon full of happiness. We laughed, we danced, we ate cake and talked a lot. We even made a nice colorful scarf to keep the memory forever ", said Joy, from Nigeria.
The day ended with dance performances, music and, of course, cake!
Our Psychosocial activities in the transit centers are supported by the European Union in Niger, in the Resource and Response Mechanism for Migrants (MRRM).
