For the first time, we organized a movement from our transit center in Dirkou to our transit center in Agadez for 11 migrants of Cameroonian, Gambian, Nigerian, Malian and Nigerian nationality. These migrants flew for the first time the morning of Friday, June 15, accompanied by Ahmed, Community Mobilizer in Dirkou. An experience that was not necessarily easy for everyone!
"I confess to you, most of the migrants were a little afraid. To find oneself in a plane, in a very heavy object that is supposed to fly, without having any control, is not very reassuring. That's why we organized an awareness session before taking off, in order to put everyone at ease and answer their questions, "Ahmed Moustapha tells us.
"Fortunately everything went well and everyone arrived in Agadez safe and sound. I'm ready for the next flight! ", he concludes.
IOM's assisted voluntary return and reintegration program is supported by the European Union in Niger under the Migrant Resource and Response Mechanism (MRRM).
