From September 7th to 9th, an IOM delegation composed of Deputy Regional Director Sophie Nonnenmacher from the IOM Office - UN Migration in West and Central Africa, staff and community mobilizers from IOM Niger, visited northern Niger in the localities of Agadez, Arlit, Assamaka and Point Zero.
The series of field visits began with a meeting with the authorities of the city of Arlit followed by a visit to the transit center. The meeting with the authorities of Arlit was carried out in the presence of the prefect and his deputies where a certain number of questions were evoked.
The delegation then headed to the Arlit transit center where they visited the various IOM units and exchanged with the migrants at the transit center. The delegation then left for Assamaka where they met the various actors of the defense and security forces (FDS). The police commissioner thanked IOM for the good collaboration and also for the IBM project of the IOM team - Border Management in the Sahel for the contribution to solar panels.
