Since October 2016, IOM, in collaboration with the Directorate General for Civil Protection (DGPC), has been conducting humanitarian rescue operations for migrants in distress. Migrants often suffer from trauma, dehydration or physical injury. Consequently, personnel working in the field must have the necessary skills to deal with emergencies.
To ensure this, we are continuing a series of emergency first aid training for personnel whose usual duties are to coordinate and assist migrants in our search and rescue missions or transit centres. So far, more than 100 staff members have received this training in Agadez, Arlit, Dirkou and even in Assamaka.
