Arrived from the 11th charter flight

IOM staff in Niamey welcomed and assisted last night 170 migrants arriving with the 11th charter flight from Libya to Niger in the past year.

IOM was present to provide technical and logistical assistance for the registration, profiling, reception, medical assistance and subsequent transportation of migrants to their villages of origin, under the MigrantsResources and Response Mechanism (MRRM) funded by the European Union (European Union in Niger).

This is the 11th IOM charter flight arriving from Libya since October 2016, when operations began. Almost 2,000 people have arrived since, with more than 3,000 other migrants arriving last December with government charters, bringing to 5,000 the total number of migrants evacuated from Libya to Niger.
