IOM staff in Niamey welcomed and assisted 152 Nigerian migrants arriving on a charter flight from Libya last night.
IOM was present to provide technical and logistical assistance for the registration, profiling, reception, medical assistance and subsequent transportation of migrants to their villages of origin,under the Migrants Resources and Response Mechanism.(MRRM) funded by the European Union.
This is the 10th IOM charter flight that has been arriving from Libya since October 2016, when operations began. More than 1,800 people have arrived since, with more than 3,000 other migrants arriving last December with government charters, bringing to 5,000 the total number of migrants evacuated from Libya to Niger.
